We all know that a hotel concierge can help you make a reservation for dinner or order a taxi to the airport, but there’s a lot more they can do to make your stay more pleasant. Sometimes all you have to do is ask. Here are a few things you can ask the concierge to help you with during your next hotel stay.

1. Ask for a quiet room

A recent Hotels.com survey found that one of the most sought-after features when staying at a hotel is a quiet room. But how do you know which rooms in the hotel are the most quiet? Ask the concierge. “”The concierge often knows which areas of the hotel are more noisy than others,” said travel expert Taylor Cole.

2. Ask for the best happy hours in town

Hotel guests are always looking for a great deal, and while the concierge knows all the hottest restaurants and bars in town, they also often know where the best happy hour deals are. “Even if the hotel doesn’t offer complimentary meals, the concierge will know the best local spots to connect over drinks and hors d’ oeuvres,” Cole said.

Did you book a trip to Miami only to find out that your favorite band is playing on concert there that weekend? Your hotel concierge just might have connections to help you find last-minute tickets, even to sold-out events.

4. Ask for help buying gifts or planning parties

Remember, hotels often host events for all kinds of special occasions, so they know where to get all the party supplies you need. You can also ask your hotel concierge for help buying a gift. “The concierge is the perfect resource for a special occasion like an anniversary, birthday, marriage proposal or even a creative way to make an apology,” Cole said.

5. Ask for help replacing something you’ve forgotten

Most hotels will offer complimentary toothbrushes if you forgot yours at home. But they often do so much more than that. If you’ve forgotten a phone charger, tote bag, umbrella or headphones, ask the concierge before you head to the store to replace it. “They often have ‘found’ items stashed away and can offer a temporary replacement,” Cole said.

6. Ask for gift-wrapping

You need a gift for your boss or for your old friend from college who is in town. Don’t just buy a gift bag and throw it in there. Many hotel concierges will help you gift wrap it, and even deliver it to your room.

7. Ask to have your boarding pass printed out

You don’t have to go to the hotel’s business center and print out your own boarding pass. Often the hotel concierge can do this for you and have it waiting at the front desk when you check out.

8. Ask for help packing your suitcases

If you think this service is just for high-end hotels and resorts, think again. Some concierges will even help you pack up your suitcases.
