Long Island City is just 10 minutes from Manhattan, but a world away from its high-priced hotels. We fell in love with the Paper Factory Hotel. Its eclectic, industrial-themed décor stays true to the roots of this 100-year-old paper factory. Paper, in the form of NYC newspapers and stacks of books, is the common thread. Rooms have a loft-like feel, while providing amenities like free Wi-Fi, free international calls, and connectivity ports for all of your devices. The restaurant, Mundo, is ranked highly by critics. Note about the rates: You may have to dig deep for rates below $150, but we found cheap, last-minute rates on the hotel website and specials on sites like Trip Advisor that met our threshold (with the exception of the busy summer season).
