Illinois Election Roundup: Dems Lose Big, But Quinn Hanging On
It was a long and tough night for Democrats in Illinois, but with results in two important races still too close to call, some are hanging on to hope. In the race for President Obama's former Senate seat, Republican Congressman Mark Kirk emerged victorious. With 99 percent of the vote counted, Kirk had 48 percent to Democrat Alexi Giannoulias' 46 percent.

DCCC Cash Helps Some Illinois Dems, Leaves Others To Their Own Devices
As has been widely reported this morning, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has gone on a massive last-minute spending spree, in an attempt to hold a number of contested House seats across the country. There are five House races in Illinois that are seen as competitive. Its biggest gift, of nearly $600,000, went to Dan Seals, the Democrat running for Kirk's old seat in the 10th -- the only Democrat of the five who's been consistently ahead in the polls.

Democrat Seals Holds A Big Lead In Mark Kirk's Old District
The news media's narrative of the 2010 election has been written for months: Democrats fighting for their lives against a Republican tide that will be anywhere from pretty big to cataclysmic. A new poll in Illinois' 10th District confirms that Democrat Dan Seals has a sizable lead over his Republican opponent, Robert Dold. The seat has been held for ten years by Republican Mark Kirk, who is vacating it to run for U.S. Senate.

WATCH: NRCC Targets Democrats For Congress With Big Ad Buy
The National Republican Congressional Campaign bought $1.7 million worth of television ads this weekend, and three of those ads are aimed at contested House races in the Chicago area. There are only three competitive Congressional races in Illinois. Two Democratic incumbents, Debbie Halvorson and Bill Foster, are fighting for their political lives, in the face of stiff challenges by Republicans in moderate districts.
