The Casting for ‘The Traitors’ Deserves a Pulitzer Prize
Photo Illustration by Elizabeth Brockway/The Daily Beast/PeacockI was raised on Game Show Network—specifically during that period when the network wasn’t sure if it wanted to reboot old shows or just show reruns of the beloved programs of yesteryear. I spent my summers invested in the latter. Match Game and What’s My Line? were my favorites because they came preloaded with a cast of characters: big personalities like Brett Somers and Charles Nelson Reilly. I used to think about how fun it would

15 Weirdest, Most Outrageous TV Game Show Moments (Videos)
Sometimes, game shows are at their best when things don’t go according to plan. James Holzhauer lost his 33rd game of “Jeopardy!” after wagering an uncharacteristically modest $1,399 in his final “Final Jeopardy” round on June 3. He was expected to beat Ken Jennings’ all-time highest winnings record of $2.5 million that day, but lost in a shocking turn of events to opponent Emma Boettcher. Holzhauer, a professional gambler, explained why he bet so low, telling The Action Network, “I knew I could

Dallas Theater Review: ‘Hood: The Robin Hood Musical Adventure’
It seems altogether appropriate that John Lee Beatty’s simple but eminently serviceable wooden set for “Hood: The Robin Hood Musical Adventure” — now having its world premiere at the Dallas Theater Center, with an eye on Broadway — resembles nothing so much as the interior of an outbuilding on some rural homestead. That’s because every... <a href="http://variety.com/2017/legit/reviews/hood-review-musical-2-1202505192/" title="Read Dallas Theater Review: ‘Hood: The Robin Hood Musical Adventure’"

Alec Baldwin’s Best ‘Saturday Night Live’ Moments
Alec Baldwin is about to host Saturday Night Live for the 17th time! And that’s the new record to beat. Lorne Michaels supposedly has extended a standing invitation to Baldwin to appear every season, should his schedule permit, something Michaels has offered to only one other host — Christopher Walken. This Adam McKay-Will Ferrell classic featuring a gaggle of drunk businessmen reminiscing about their equal parts awful and amazing pal, Bill Brasky, made seven appearances on the show, but it wa

My Mind Went Blank: A Look Back at ‘Match Game’ (Photos)
This summer, ABC will attempt to resurrect one of the most legendary game shows of all-time: “Match Game.” During its run in the 1970s on CBS, “Match Game” became a roaring after-school success with its relaxed atmosphere and bawdy humor that made it feel more like a cocktail party than a game show. “Match Game” started as a straight-laced NBC show in 1962, with two contestants trying to match answers with a celebrity. Shortly after NBC cancelled the show in 1963, the producers decided to run
