Give This Chromebook

You don’t have to spend a fortune to buy nice tech gifts. There are joy and glad tidings to be had in reasonably priced gadgets, too. Leave it to David Pogue to sniff out 12 delightful and useful ones.

The Seventh Day of Techness

Here at Yahoo Tech, we’ve made a lot of noise about Chromebook laptops. These are sweet, lightweight, fast, elegant-looking laptops that don’t run Windows or Mac OS X. Instead, they run Google’s Chrome operating system, so they’re designed for doing things online: watching videos, surfing the Web, doing email, and working with Google Drive docs (spreadsheets, word processors, presentations, and so on).

True, they don’t do as much as a $1,000 superthin Mac or Windows laptop. But this Acer C720 (16 GB, 11.6-inch screen) costs $180 — a fantastic price for a second computer, a kitchen computer, a kids’ computer.
