HOW DOES IT WORK?

Pokémon Go is an augmented-reality game.

It uses your phone’s GPS and clock to detect where you are and what time it is in the game.

Pokémon “appear” around you (on your phone screen), and you can catch them.

As you move around, different types of Pokémon appear depending on your location and the time.

This encourages you to travel around the world to catch Pokémon.

The goal is to collect all 151 virtual creatures, which look like rats, snakes, dragons, dinosaurs, birds, eggs, or trees.

If you go near a lake or an ocean, you’ll find water types.

If you go out at night, you’ll find fairy and ghost types.

To catch everything, you have to travel and explore during both the day and the night.

The game monetizes this: You can buy items with real money that help you lure Pokémon.
