This week in apps: L'Oréal's new UV patch, a cool raw photo editor, and the rest of the best

It's possible that you couldn't keep up with the wild world of app updates this week considering all the changes happening with Uber, including Travis Kalanick stepping down as CEO. If that's the case, there's no need to worry. We've got you covered.

L'Oréal's UV Patch

The company released the first UV patch last year, but the updated version is much more kid friendly. The little blue, heart-shaped patch is waterproof and can be stuck on the hand or wrist for up to three days. Just download the My UV Patch app on your Android or iPhone and snap quick shots of your family's patches throughout the day. 

Each person has their own avatar in the app, so it's easy to keep track of everyone's sun exposure. It even asks you about your skin type, the location, and the weather to make sure you're getting the best advice. When you take a photo of the patch, My UV tells you things like when to put on more sun screen, what the UV levels on your patch are currently at, and what level SPF you should be using.

Priime RAW

Priime RAW is a editing app for raw and high-resolution photos taken on DSLR, mirrorless, and other digital cameras. It has a wide color spectrum to showcase the true beauty of images you capture. Edits show up in milliseconds so you don't have to sit around waiting for the transformation. 

The app has AI smart suggestions to recommend which filters and editing tools you should be using. There's even a full edit history, so you can go back if you change your mind and like a previous edit of the image. When all of your edits have been made, Priime Raw saves your photos in non-destructive, max resolution, no compression up to 120 megapixels. So you don't have to worry about tainting your photos with this editing app. 

Spearman

Sometimes you just want a fun little game to keep you occupied for a while. The new game Spearman is free on iOS and Android and will keep your mind off other things for as long as you want it to. 

You'll work on your spear throwing finesse while countering enemies in the game. It's pretty simple to use. Just drag and drop your finger to target and throw the spear at other stick people. The force of the throw doesn't change, so all you have to do is aim in the direction you want your spear to go. Your own spearman will come into contract with a lot of other characters, including archers, javelin throwers, swordsmen, and magicians. 

If you really get into the game, there's a store where you can buy helmets, defensive skills, and an apple for healing. 

Elsewhere 

If That Then This (IFTTT), the app that triggers an action when something happens, launched a new project this week. The Data Access Project lets you add government agencies into your app so you're more aware of what's going on around you. You can get a text when the Department of State issues a travel alert, receive emails for Amtrak alerts in your city, or be notified if there's a CTA red line alert during your morning commute. The app added over 40 agencies, so your options for new info are really wide open.

Test your reaction with Three Jump. Just like the app sounds, it's all about jumping over obstacles. Click one to three taps and get your ball rolling. Collect coins throughout the course to get as many points as possible. The course just keeps going, so play for as long as you want.
