Weed Dealers Arrested After Posting Weekly Grow Reports on YouTube
Social media can be one of the best ways to market your business. Unless, of course, your business is completely illegal.
A Las Vegas man was arrested Friday after he led police straight to his marijuana grow operation by posting weekly reports on YouTube.
In the videos (which only made it to week four) Jason Pelletier, 33 walks around his garage grow shop explaining his growing systems and weed strains as he brags that the plants will soon be available for harvest and sale. The videos sparked the investigation that led to the arrest of both him and his wife, Stephanie Pelletier.
Jason Pelletier posted under the name “Buddynuggets78,” according to KLAS-TV. Although the videos are no longer available, the account’s channel remains, as does its marijuana-filled cover photo. There is also a Twitter account under the same name, which features tweet after tweet of information about the crop, close-up photos of the buds, and links to the videos.
It seems that social media arrests are becoming more regular. In the past few months, a man was jailed after posting instructional weed growing videos to YouTube, a burglar was busted after his girlfriend posted a selfie with the stolen items, and a phone thief outed himself by posting a selfie on the victim’s Facebook.
When will these criminals ever learn?
