Nurburgring lap times may be a good judge of how today's hottest supercars compare against each other, but for electric cars, it seems laps at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca are where its at. This modified Tesla Model 3 Performance just set the record for production EVs, and it looks pretty damn quick.

Driven by Cameron Rogers, this Model 3 has a host of upgrades to make it track ready, including custom brake pads with high-temp fluid, Mountain Pass Performance coilovers, Mountain Pass Performance camber arms, Maier Racing wings front and rear, lighter Enkei wheels, and Hoosier A7 slicks. The car was able to set a fastest time of 1:41.28, beating out the previous record time of 1:43.06 held by a totally stock Model S P100D. It sounds eerily quiet as it tops speeds over 100 mph and slides out of corners:

Though this Model 3 might hold the title for fastest production EV car around Laguna Seca, it isn't the fastest outright. That crown goes to the yet-to-be-produced Lucid Air, which set a time of 1:39.30 this summer.
