UPDATE: Well, what was planned to be a big day in space launch has turned out to be a bust. SpaceX's onboard launch computer triggered a hold on today's launch that pushed the company past its planned launch window. It will now try again to launch the Air Force GPS III satellite tomorrow, Wednesday, December 19. The launch window then begins at 9:07 A.M Eastern.

Elsewhere, Blue Origin was scheduled to conduct a launch of the New Shepard to suborbital space, but Jeff Bezos' company also had to scrub its launch. They'll try again tomorrow, too.

UPDATE: The countdown reached approximately T-minus seven minutes before encountering a hold condition that caused the SpaceX team to stop the launch sequence. They're not investigating the cause of the possible "abort condition."
