Viral Smash 'Dumb Ways to Die' Returns with a Valentine's Day Video

“Dumb Ways to Die” is back. Its latest, a Valentine’s Day cartoon, is so sweet, it’ll tear your heart out.

The best way to explain “Dumb Ways to Die” is probably by calling it a cross between Nintendo’s Kirby and Quentin Tarantino. The Aussie-made cartoon debuted in 2012 as a PSA for train safety commissioned by Metro Trains Melbourne. Backed by a catchy ditty, the video shows all the stupid ways you might bring peril to yourself — including getting killed by a train — and became a quick Internet sensation, racking up tens of millions of views.

Friday’s short video “Valentine” (above), the third cartoon in the “Dumb Ways to Die” series, is a bit more lovey-dovey. But don’t worry; there’s still death.

Have a happy V-Day, and we hope you can avoid any dumb ways to die today (and every day, really).
