Underline Impact: Affordable internet for nonprofits

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — Fiber internet has come to El Paso County, and Underline, one of the first companies to bring the technology to the area, has created a program to make high-speed fiber internet plans accessible to nonprofit organizations.

According to an Underline spokesperson, the company invested in a project to bring a new fiber network to Colorado Springs and Fountain, and began construction in 2021, focusing on the downtown area of Colorado Springs during its first phase of construction. It has now fully completed the first phase and is expanding to a wider circumference in the city that will double the size of the network. The company has also completed much of the installation of its network in the Fountain community.

As the company expands through the area, internet plans are becoming available to residential, business, and government entities, but Underline has a special focus on 501(c)(3) organizations. With the Underline Impact program, qualifying nonprofit organizations will receive up to 15% off all high-speed fiber internet plans.

“We’re always thinking about ways to be a good neighbor in El Paso County. I’m excited that with this program we’re able to pay it forward to all the organizations that work tirelessly to support this community we care so much about,” said Bob Thompson, Underline Founder & CEO. “It takes a lot of energy and dedication to build a flourishing community and we’re happy to play our small part.”

In addition to Underline, Colorado Springs Utilities and Metronet have been installing fiber cables to expand fiber internet service into the area.
