Twitter Releases New Site to Show You the First Thing You Ever Tweeted

“just setting up my twttr,” quoth Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, in his first tweet on March 21, 2006, at 12:50 p.m. Lightning struck from the skies and thunder boomed, and with that, the social media network was born. But what was your first tweet like?

A new feature rolled out on the company’s website allows you to relive the moment you (or any other public account) bravely ventured into the strange social network that is Twitter. Just click here and enter the Twitter handle in question. No exhausting seven-step journey required.

My first tweet in 2009, demonstrates my acute awareness that I was already using Twitter incorrectly (though I did manage to figure out how to use the @reply).

My editor’s, on the other hand, warned that he would bore us. Accurate.

And my colleague Daniel Bean’s proves that he hasn’t changed since 2009.

Many celebrities, on the other hand, were less self-conscious about dipping their toes into these uncharted waters:

Taylor Swift’s was, weirdly, a 2008 retweet reply to Justin Bieber, of all people! (Was that ever a thing?)

image

Lorde’s 2012 debut was charmingly weird.

image

Late-night host Carson Daly was pretty blasé about the whole thing.

image

Oprah yelled her way onto the stage that is “TWITTERS.”

image

Katy Perry made it known that she now TWITTTTERs.

image

Kim Kardashian needed some guidance. (Check the mere two faves!)

image

Kanye West was really pumped to be there.

image

Barack Obama was just ONE signature away from ending the war in Iraq…in 2007.

image

…And Mitt Romney was bragging about blogging “Today’s Reads” or something.
