Elon Musk’s X - formerly Twitter - appears to be suffering a global outage as thousands of users of the platform across several countries reported issues this morning.

Downdetector, which tracks online outages, confirmed that X is experiencing issues as 70,000 outage reports had been made from multiple countries since 5.30am GMT.

The outage was confirmed to be affecting countries including the UK, US and India, with the site showing a message reading “Welcome to Twitter” instead of users’ normal feed.

Netblocks, the global internet tracking entity, said the “significant international outage” did not appear to be associated with any country-level blocks or filtering.

Users of the platform’s blue tick premium subscription service, X Pro, were also facing issues, with their feeds showing the message “Waiting for posts”.

The reason for the outage remains unclear.
