Three things to know about Cherryville's new taxi service

Just over one month ago, Cherryville businessman Donald Bombardier opened a taxi service.

Here are the top three things to know about Cherryville Taxi and Transport.

1. The story

Cherryville Taxi and Transport is the first taxi service in the city since 1967, according to Bombardier.

He decided to open the business after noticing a community need for transportation.

“I ran into a woman in Walmart, and she couldn’t get any transportation,” Bombardier said. “I was looking into it, cause there’s really no Uber around there. No Uber, no Lyft, definitely no public transportation, so I came up with an idea for a taxi service.”

Bombardier added that the business has gone well so far.

“It gives people more options to get around and also, you know, a lot of people call us now, they’ll call in a shopping order at Walmart, we’ll pick it up and deliver it. Things like that, you know, doctor’s appointments, airport calls,” he said.

2. Limits and prices

When it comes to Cherryville Taxi and Transport, Bombardier is willing to travel near the Cherryville area for quick trips and even long distance to get customers to the airport.

“I go to Shelby, Lincolnton, Mooresville, Huntersville, Charlotte, I’ll go anywhere. I’ll even go to Georgia if I have to, for an airport call, not just for a regular call,” he said.

Prices for a local ride include a $3.75 service fee plus $3.75 per mile.

The cost of a ride to or from the airport in Charlotte is $110.

3. Contact information

Those in need of a ride in the area can contact Cherryville Taxi and Transport at 704-837-4444.
