This Watch Vibrates Every Five Minutes to Remind You to Make the Most of Your Time

This is the Durr, a new concept wristwatch that buzzes every five minutes, in an effort to jolt you into doing something with your day.

Okay, that’s one, optimistic interpretation: Per the creators Theo Tveterås and Lars Marcus Vedeler, in the promotional video below, the Durr deals in our perception of time. Five minutes can occasionally feel like it flies by or crawls, depending on where you are in the queue at the DMV.

Or, as the Durr website says, “With Durr you become aware of how your brain alters the length of a bus ride, how fast you finish a beer, how time flies by when you enjoy yourself, and drags along when you wait in line at the post office.”

Five minutes is five minutes, however, a point that the Durr drives home with its regular vibrations. By perpetually pinging you every five minutes, the Durr will, at the very least, make you aware that life carries on at the same speed, no matter what you fill your time doing.

The Durr won’t give you the precise time of day — indeed, the front plate is a solid color, rather than a clock face — but it will remind you of the ever-forward, linear nature of time itself.

The Durr is $120 and all colors are currently sold out. You can sign up here to be notified when it comes back in stock. (Note: It will probably be more than five minutes.)
