This Gorgeous Paris Apartment is Unreal — Literally

For rent: 1 bedroom/1 bath apartment in an upscale neighborhood. Fully furnished. Light, airy, floor-to-ceiling windows. New appliances and fixtures. Hardwood floors throughout. Requires minimum Intel i7 @3.2 GHz, 32 GB RAM, GeForce GTX 780. Spacious bathroom, new tub, no shower. Price negotiable.

Want to live overseas? How about this lovely little Parisian joint?

Too bad it’s not real. It’s actually Unreal, I should say.

The 3D environment is the work of Benoît Dereau, a CG generalist and level designer, according to his website, who crafted the stylish digs as a pet project. Running on Unreal Engine 4, the virtual tour shows off a stunning degree of technical prowess, from the patterned walls and reflective surfaces to the light softly filtering in through the windows. That couch fabric is no joke.

Of course, this isn’t ready for video game primetime. We’re not going to see this kind of fidelity in a fast, smooth shooter for a while (There’s no AI or animations clogging up the gears, for instance). But it’s a fantastic glimpse into what’s possible, not to mention a potential boon to real estate agents.

Interested in checking out that awesome kitchen yourself? Dereau is posting it on his website, though he pulled it down briefly to fix a few glitches.
