Tesla’s new Model S P100D gets put to the test, and it’s an absolute screamer
When Tesla CEO Elon Musk once boasted that Tesla doesn't know how to make slow cars, he wasn't kidding around. Tesla last month unveiled a brand new P100D option for both the Model S and the Model X and the performance on each is absolutely jaw-dropping.
With Ludicrous mode enabled, Tesla's Model S P100D sports an insane 0-60 MPH time of just 2.5 seconds. In turn, Tesla appropriately boasts that it's the fastest production car in the world. Meanwhile, the P100D version of the Model X, an SUV mind you, can go from 0-60 in just 2.9 seconds.

“For the first time," Elon Musk said a few weeks ago, "the fastest accelerating production car in the world is an electric car. I think this sends a great message to the public about the future of transportation.”
Earlier this week, the first P100D shipments began going out and DragTimes already managed to put Tesla's latest speed demon to the test.
"While we impatiently wait for our Tesla Model S P100D Ludicrous to arrive from Tesla," DragTimes notes, "we had the awesome opportunity to test out what is mostly likely the first P100D to be delivered. A Tesla enthusiast family with 5 Tesla’s took delivery of their P100D in Palm Beach Florida and headed right over for us to take a look as well as do the first set of real world performance tests.
DragTimes was able to confirm the car's ridiculous 0-60 time of 2.5 seconds and also relays that the car can go from 0-100 in 6.5 seconds and complete a quarter-mile in just 10.7 seconds.
