That right, Tamagotchi fever is back!

Bandai Namco Toys & Collectibles, the creators of the virtual digital pets called Tamagotchi, announced their comeback 20 years after the handheld toy was first launched in 2004.

Bandai Namco is bringing Tamagotchi back into the market to attract not only the generations that were obsessed 20 years ago, but also the younger ones that will meet Tamagotchi for the first time.

The new Tamagotchi toys will blend original classic elements with new features and trendy shells for today's audience, the company announced in a news release.

"This device has been at the forefront of countless pleas for its return, and we're delighted to answer the call, delivering what fans have been clamoring for with revamped excitement and innovation," said Tara Badie, the company's brand strategy director.

Tamagotchi handhelds are now available for pre-sale on Amazon in different colors and exclusive styles.

What is Tamagotchi?

Tamagotchi is a small handheld device with a digital pet that users see on a screen. Every day, users play, nurture and feed their pet so that they grow happy. Users can also connect their Tamagotchi device with a friend's Tamagotchi so that their pets play together.

Tamagotchi pets get ill as well, and need care from their pet parents, otherwise they can die.
