T-Mobile, Sprint to Carry Samsung Galaxy S5 for $0 Down
We’re starting to find out just how much the Galaxy S5 will cost smartphone shoppers.
T-Mobile will begin offering preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S5 on March 24 for $0 up front. Then you’ll be charged $27.50 per month during the course of 24 months, for a grand total of $660 for the handset. Order the smartphone by March 31, and you’ll get your hands on the S5 when it hits T-Mobile stores on April 11.
Sprint will also sell Samsung’s newest flagship for $0 down, available April 11. Through the Easy Pay program, customers who grab the S5 will still need to make 24 monthly payments of $27.09. Alternatively, if you pick up the new smartphone on Sprint’s Framily Plan with Easy Pay, the carrier will give you a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 for free, with the activation of a two-year data plan for the slate.
T-Mobile customers who opt for the carrier’s new $50 Simple Choice Plan will get 1 GB of 4G LTE data, unlimited 2G data, and unlimited talk and text. You’ll also get unlimited global data and texting at no additional cost, as well as unlimited international texting from within the United States. If you want more than that, you can get unlimited 4G LTE and 5 GB of wireless tethering in addition to unlimited talk and text for $80 per month.
Sprint’s Framily Plan costs $55 per month per line for unlimited talk, text and 1 GB of data. As you add more people to the plan—up to 10—the cost drops $5 per month down to a minimum of $30 per line. For an additional $20 per month per line, Framily Plan members can snag unlimited data and purchase a new phone every year.

AT&T has begun preorders for the Galaxy S5, priced at $199 with a two-year contract, or $25 per month with the carrier’s Next early upgrade program. Like T-Mobile, AT&T will ship the S5 to customers in early April. Ma Bell is also offering the Samsung’s Gear 2 for $299 and the Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit for $199 each. T-Mobile hasn’t announced pricing for the smartwatches yet.
Unlike T-Mobile and AT&T, Sprint is not offering preorders for the Galaxy S5, but will instead let customers reserve the handset.
The S5 features a large, 5.1-inch high-resolution display, improved health-tracking capabilities, and an integrated heart-rate monitor. Rounding out the handset’s biggest features is a built-in fingerprint reader for keeping your data secure.
