If you are a T-Mobile subscriber, your bill may be going up. The carrier has begun informing customers about rate increases by text message, and many of those customers are sharing screengrabs of the message on X.

It reads: "For the first time in nearly a decade, we're making a change to the price of some of our monthly service plans. Starting on 06/05/24, your rate plan(s) will increase by $5 per line per month and your other connected devices by $2 per line per month."

On its website, T-Mobile elaborates, stating that “in response to rising costs and inflation, we’re making small adjustments to some of our oldest rate plan prices,” although it doesn’t list which plans.

When asked, a spokesperson wrote in an email that the company won't be sharing details about which plans publicly, "but we notified included customers yesterday."

The company also offered the following statement: "T-Mobile is committed to offering the best value in postpaid wireless with low prices and a differentiated, best-in-class 5G network — and we have no intention of ever changing that. That being said, as inflation and costs continue to rise, for the first time in nearly a decade we’re making small adjustments to prices of some of our oldest rate plans. The majority of our customers are not included but the fraction who are heard from us yesterday."

According to CNET, a memo sent out to T-Mobile employees by John Freier, president of the company’s consumer group, said recent Go5G plans won’t be affected, nor will customers who are covered by T-Mobile’s Price Lock guarantee.

With 119 million subscribers, T-Mobile is the third-largest mobile phone service provider in America.

T-Mobile opens customer-service center in Henrietta NY

Early this year, T-Mobile opened a Customer Experience Center at 326 Clay Road in Henrietta, with plans to employ 400 people by the fall. The 83,000-square-foot facility features such amenities for workers as a basketball court, patio, gym, theater room, massage chairs and more, according to a statement released by the company at the time of the opening.
