Do you ever sit back at the end of the day and wonder where all the time went — down to the second? Sony’s new SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk might have the answer for you. Thats because these wrist-worn computers are meant for use with Sonys Lifelog activity tracker, an app that lets you keep tabs on everything you do during the day.

SmartWatch 3
The SmartWatch 3 is Sony’s first device to run on Google’s Android Wear operating system for wearable devices. It sports a sleeker design than its predecessor, the SmartWatch 2, and packs a sharper 1.6-inch 320 × 320 resolution LCD transreflective screen that Sony says will improve outdoor visibility.

Thanks to its 4 GB of built-in storage, you can keep a lot of music on the SmartWatch 3 and listen to it via Bluetooth speakers or headphones without needing your smartphone around.

The SmartWatch 3 is also compatible with Sony’s Lifelog smartphone app, which lets you see things like which apps you use to communicate with your friends most, how often you watch movies or TV shows, how many steps you take in a day, and other activities.

The SmartWatch 3 is one of a host of Android Wear smartwatches making their debut in the coming days. Motorola is expected to officially unveil its round Moto 360 on Sept. 4, while ASUS will soon reveal is ZenWatch.

LG recently revealed its LG G Watch R, which complements its already existing G Watch. Oh, and you may have heard that Apple will reportedly launch its iWatch on Sept. 9. In other words, the SmartWatch 3 has a lot of work cut out for it if Sony wants it to stand out from a fast-growing market.

SmartBand Talk
In addition to the SmartWatch 3, Sony revealed its new SmartBand Talk, a dedicated activity tracker that lets you make quick phone calls, thanks to its microphone and speaker. Unlike Samsung’s Gear S, though, the SmartBand Talk needs to be tethered to your smartphone to make calls.

The SmartBand Talk is meant to track your daily activities, including how far you’ve walked, how much you’ve run, and, thanks to its altimeter, how high you’ve climbed. All your information is displayed on the SmartBand Talk’s 1.4-inch e-ink display. And since e-ink displays sip battery power, the SmartBand lasts up to three days on a single charge, shorter than Jawbone’s UP activity tracker or products from Fitbit and Nike. (Those products lack displays.)

When used in conjunction with Sony’s Lifelog app, the SmartBand Talk, like the SmartWatch 3, can provide you with a diary of your daily activities.

Both the SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk can survive in up to 3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes. The SmartWatch 3 will cost 229, while the SmartBand Talk will cost 159. U.S. pricing hasn’t been announced. Both devices go on sale later this fall.
