Some Mad Genius Combined Flappy Bird and 2048, the Two Most Addictive Games of the Year

Well, this was inevitable: The games Flappy Bird and 2048 have proved to be two of the most addictive, enraging games of the year so far. And now, some genius has combined them into one game. The inventor, who posted the creation to the Hacker News news board, calls it “Logarithmic Flappy 2048.”

You can try this Frankenstein’s monster of addictive gaming right here.

The game takes place on the 2048 puzzle grid, but gameplay is more like Flappy Bird. The screen scrolls to the side, like in Flappy Bird, and you are trying to maneuver your square through two vertical obstacles. If you touch one of them, your game ends. With each successful pass through the obstacles, your square doubles, like it does in 2048 after a match.

The goal is to get the highest score possible. The game is much, much easier than both 2048, which takes some real reasoning skills, and Flappy Bird, which requires more dexterity and timing. You’re probably better off playing either of those games if you’re looking for a true time-waster.

You can play the original 2048 here. (If you haven’t yet: Clear out a few hours.) Flappy Bird, meanwhile, is still absent from app stores, after its creator Dong Nguyen pulled it due to its addictive nature in February. Nguyen recently said he would bring back Flappy Bird but didn’t give a release date.
