Seven Bay Area high school seniors earn prestigious scholarships
(KRON) — Seven Bay Area high school seniors earned engineering scholarships from Amazon on Friday and were invited to intern in the online retail giant’s innovation lab, Lab126, in Sunnyvale.
The all-star students were picked by Amazon’s Future Engineer initiative, which provides each student with up to $40,000 to pursue an education in computer science, engineering or related degrees in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) at a college or university of their choice.
In addition, students will be offered a paid internship at Amazon following their freshman year of college.
The seven Bay Area student recipients of the AFE scholarship are:
Nicole Szeto, El Camino High School
Aastha Jain, Newark Memorial High School
Sara Hermosillo Canedo, Richmond High School
Tanvi Goyal, Irvington High School
Dawit Bonga, Galileo Academy of Science & Technology
