Seth Meyers takes a closer look at Apple’s public war with the FBI

There’s little doubt that Apple’s very public battle with the FBI will be one of the biggest stories of the month, if not the entire year. After being asked to make a backdoor in order to give the bureau access to the contents of the iPhone owned by one of the San Bernardino shooters, Apple CEO Tim Cook refused, explaining that it would set a dangerous precedent.

The news spread quickly, making waves around the world, so you knew it was only a matter of time until the late night hosts picked up on it.

On Thursday night, Seth Meyers dedicated his ‘A Closer Look’ segment to the brewing battle between Apple and the FBI, covering many of the most important developments while taking shots at everyone from defeated presidential candidate Martin O’Malley to tech wiz Donald Trump to BlackBerry.

Although it seems unlikely that Meyers and his writing team were referencing Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle’s threat to switch to BlackBerry if Apply didn’t comply, it’s a pretty fantastic cherry on top.

The segment does provide an impressively uncomplicated overview of the fiasco up to this point, but if you want an expert’s point of view, be sure to check out the take from famed iPhone hacker Will Strafach as well.
