There's a new version of the Mercedes-AMG GT coupe, and it's an 805-hp plug-in hybrid. The Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance was revealed today in Shanghai during the Formula 1 race weekend for the 2025 model year.
The powertrain pairs a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 with a permanently excited synchronous e-motor mounted to the rear axle.
The e-motor produces 201 horsepower and sends it through a two-speed transmission and limited-slip differential.
The hybrid system's combined output is 805 hp and 1047 pound-feet of torque.
The juice for the e-motor comes from a 6.1-kWh lightweight battery also housed at the rear.
Mercedes touts a direct cooling system that sends a special fluid around each of the 560 cells.
Mercedes claims the E Performance will hit 60 mph in 2.7 seconds and has a 199-mph top speed.
The cabin and exterior design is fairly similar to that of the standard GT63 coupe, differentiated by minor badge and trim changes.
The E Performance also launches the Manufaktur Signature program, which adds special paint options and diamond quilting for the nappa leather.
The GT63 S E Performance will reach the U.S. in late 2024 and is expected to cost more than $200,000.
