Samsung says there are clues hidden in its puzzling Galaxy S7 Unpacked invitation

A few days ago, Samsung confirmed what we already suspected: it’s planning a special media event for February 21st, one day before MWC 2016 kicks off. The Galaxy S7 will likely be the star of the event, although virtual reality might also play a part in the event, at least according to Samsung’s puzzling Unpacked video teaser.

We won’t try to guess what’s coming at Unpacked in a few weeks, but we will tell you that Samsung has unexpectedly decided to explain many of its past Unpacked keynotes’ invites in a post on the company blog.

The big clue for this event was “the white stitching around the invitation,” which was later found on the back of the Galaxy Note 3.

The invitation asked “What’s Next”, featuring a curved design. As we expected last year, that turned out to be the Galaxy S6 edge version of the Galaxy S6.

According to Samsung’s blog, the new Unpacked event is about rethinking “what a phone can do.” The company explains that its teaser video shows someone wearing a Gear VR headset, using VR to open a mysterious box. The hashtag #TheNextGalaxy is also seen in the video.

Samsung doesn’t tell us what’s in the box, or whether the Galaxy S7 is indeed coming to Barcelona later this month. But all its invitations so far contained clues about upcoming phone features. So what’s that 3D cube with blue edges supposed to hint at?
