Don Mancini teases his plans for the Chucky TV show alongside a potential Child’s Play movie. Get a look at the Punisher’s return for Daredevil: Born Again. Plus, Smiling Friends makes its surprise return. Spoilers now!

Mercy

Deadline reports Kali Reis (True Detective: Night Country) has joined the cast of Mercy, the upcoming sci-fi thriller starring Chris Pratt, Rebecca Ferguson and Annabelle Wallis “set in the near future, when capital crime has increased.”

Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4

During a recent interview with Comic Book, Sami Raimi admitted he isn’t working on a fourth Spider-Man movie starring Tobey Maguire “yet.”

Well, I haven’t heard about that yet – I did read that, but I’m not actually working on it yet.

I haven’t talked to Tobey about it, but maybe Marvel has, or Columbia Pictures. But, I just worked with Marvel on a movie called Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. So, I’m on great terms with them. I’m sure I would hear about it if it was in the works. I think so. I don’t know.

Child’s Play 8

Meanwhile, Don Mancini confirmed to Screen Rant the eighth Child’s Play movie will “work in tandem” with the Chucky TV series.

[The show and the movie working] in tandem is my hope. We’re hoping to get a Season 4 of the show. Fingers crossed. I pitched the idea already to the network, so we’re hoping on that, but I’m also in the early stages of developing a new movie now, and the movie is designed to work in tandem with the show. That’s what we hope in our dream of conquering the universe, is that we can keep expanding the Chucky-verse in this way. That’s my hope so we’ll see what happens.

Hellraiser 2

In another interview with Comic Book, producer Keith Levine confirmed “there have been conversations” about a sequel to David Bruckner’s Hellraiser reboot.

We are trying to do a follow-up and there have been conversations. I can’t exactly say where we’re at in those conversations, but [David] Bruckner is involved in those conversations. We spent a lot of time and energy relaunching that world. A lot of brainpower going into crafting the Cenobite design, figuring out how we’re going to pull them off, and we learned so much. And I think moving forward, we love that all that knowledge is sort of banked and that time has been spent. So we think that moving forward and going into another movie is just going to be even crazier and even more awesome. So yeah, that’s something we’re definitely hard at work on, and hope we will have more news soon. [We’re] excited to tell more stories in the world.

Festival of the Living Dead

We also have a trailer for the Soska Sisters’ Festival of the Living Dead, in which a festival celebrating the original zombie uprising seen in Night of the Living Dead becomes ground zero for more of the same.

Evil

Robert King promised TV Line we’ll learn the identity of The 60, Leland’s ultimate fate and what happened to Kristen’s baby before the end of Evil’s fourth and final season.

You’ll know who The 60 are. You’ll know about the fate of Leland, and you’ll know what has happened to that baby that is the product of that egg belonging to Kristen and [Leland].

Star Trek: Legacy

Speaking with Den of Geek, Alex Kurtzman stated he’d greenlight Terry Matalas’ Star Trek: Legacy if he possessed a “magic greenlight button,” adding it’s currently “beyond [his] paygrade” to do so.

If I had a magic button, a magic ‘greenlight button,’ for Star Trek: Legacy, and it was all on me, I’d push that button today. Right now, it’s beyond my paygrade.

Star Trek: Discovery

Relatedly, Star Trek: Discovery co-showrunner Michelle Paradise revealed to Trek Movie that Callum Keith Rennie’s incoming fifth season character, Captain Rayner, is a Kellerun.

He’s a Kellerun. We were looking for a species that not a lot had been done with them. We definitely wanted another non-human on the ship and taking care of things. And Kellerun is one that had not been explored a whole lot. So we were able to also build some backstory for him and for his planet that we’ll come to learn more about later.
