YAC review

YAC (Yet Another Cleaner) is more than another freeware system cleaner for Windows. It also blocks malware, adware, malicious plug-ins, and other threats. It optimizes system and online speeds, memory, and startup settings. It can even remind you to empty the trash. YAC 6 sports an attractive interface, a more powerful malware scan, and an improved AdBlock.

Pros

Fast and deep: YAC's system cleaner scanned quickly yet found more junk than some popular tools. One-click cleaning also did a thorough job with no ill effects.

Hijack prevention: YAC can lock your browser, home page, and search engine to prevent hijacking, block malicious plug-ins, and secure browser shortcuts and online shopping.

Speed test: Web-based Internet speed test and IP detector tools open directly from YAC's interface or a desktop widget. Other extras include an uninstaller that finds and removes leftover files and folders.

Cons

Alerts and early termination: YAC terminates launched apps if you don't allow them (or whitelist them directly) within a certain timeframe. Though effective, it's a nuisance if you're slow or distracted, and the alerts sliding in and out of the notification area can be annoying.

Bottom Line

YAC might better be called NAC for "Not Another Cleaner," since it's more of a system maintenance toolbox than a mere cleaner. The download offers a free trial of YAC Premium, but the free version has plenty to keep you busy.
