With superhero movies such as the recent "Avengers: Age of Ultron" laying waste to the box office seemingly every month, it's a good time to be a comic book fan. But there's a world of illustrated storytelling beyond the likes of Batman, and that's why we asked authors of indie comics to pitch us their colourful creations -- in just 12 seconds.
With comics and their silver-screen counterparts becoming an ever-bigger part of our culture, here's a chance to see the smaller-scale creativity that's fueling the medium's vibrant independent scene. Often self-publishing, these do-it-yourself comic enthusiasts are creating weird and wacky stories that are often frighteningly imaginative, but all-too-easily overlooked.

From diesel-punk super-soldiers to amiable fruit, by way of a crime-fighting moon, we're sure you'll agree there's a wealth of creativity on show here that proves exactly how diverse the sequential arts can be. Fans queue to get their photo taken in this 360 photo-space. Surrounded by cameras, it eventually spits out a Matrix-style short video giving a spinning look at the subject. The perfect memento if you've spent ages working on a costume.
Cult hit Farming Simulator didn't seem to have too big a queue. We did have fun in the demo though, until our tractor rolled over.
Similarly alarming for non-convention-attendees is this Umbrella Corporation guard, from the Resident Evil universe.
