This Amazing App Lets You ‘See’ The Invisible Wi-Fi Signals That Surround You

An impressive new smartphone and tablet app enables you to ‘see’ the Wi-Fi signals that are completely invisible to the naked eye.

The Architecture of Radio app shows users a 360-degree augmented reality view of the all of the wireless networks around them using their GPS location.

As the app’s website put it: “hiding the visible while revealing the invisible technological landscape we interact with through our devices”.

“We are completely surrounded by an invisible system of data cables and radio signals from access points, cell towers and overhead satellites. Our digital lives depend on these very physical systems for communication, observation and navigation,” says the website.

Created by Dutch design studio Richard Vijgen, the app uses remarkable visuals based on data from almost 7 million mobile phone towers, 19 million Wi-Fi routers and hundreds of satellites.

The aim of the app is ‘to provide a comprehensive window into the infosphere’, which the app’s website describes as the cyberspace version of a biosphere.

The app can be downloaded both iPhone and iPad for £2.29, with an Android version due to land in 2016.
