Sneaky new app brings all your Amazon Instant Video content to Chromecast
One of the bummers about Chromecast is that it doesn’t have an official Amazon Prime app that will let you stream Amazon content that you watch on your computer to your television. That said, Android Police brings us word that there’s a new app called Primecast that promises to give you access to all of your Amazon Instant Video content on Chromecast, although there’s no telling whether Amazon will allow it to keep doing so in the future.

“Primecast hooks into Amazon’s back-end services, showing you a basic list of your purchased and rented movies and TV shows,” explains Android Police. “Despite the app name, you don’t actually have to be a member of Amazon Prime to use the app – any purchases will appear in your library. Amazon Prime Video users don’t get the thousands of movies and TV shows packaged with Prime automatically added to their library, so they’ll have to use the Browse tab and add individual videos to their watchlist.”
This isn’t quite seamless, as you can see from the description above, but it still sounds like the best way available to get your Amazon content streaming to your Chromecast… until Amazon inevitably figures out a way to cripple the service, at the very least. The app costs just $2.99 on Google Play and Android Police says that it works very well for the time being, so it couldn’t hurt too much to give it a try.
