Here’s how you can rent the Apple Watch before you buy it

Let’s say that Apple’s “Spring Forward” event on Monday was enough to convince you that the Apple Watch is worth keeping an eye on, but not enough to convince you to actually place a preorder next month. You certainly aren’t going to buy the watch before you have a chance to test it out.

That’s where Lumoid’s Apple Watch rental service comes in.

At some point soon after the Apple Watch launches, Lumoid, a gadget rental startup, will allow customers to rent the Apple Watch Sport for $45 a week, according to Mashable. $20 from each weekly payment will go towards the purchase of the device, should you decide to buy once you’re done renting.

The standard steel Apple Watch will also be rentable for $55 a week with $30 put towards a potential purchase.

“It’s easy to see how a phone or computer or tablet fits into your life, but a watch that reminds you to stand or helps you pay for your groceries can be a harder sell, especially when you only get to test it in the store,” a company spokesperson told Mashable.

If you want to stay up to date on the availability of Apple Watch rentals from Lumoid, sign up for the waitlist on their website.
