It's Gay Pride in cities worldwide this month, an event sure to get a big boost of excitement following the US Supreme Court's decision to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide on Friday. And in what some digerati may consider added cause for celebration, Apple has added an LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) section on the App Store that showcases tons of content for the LGBT community.

The section, which went live on the App Store on Thursday, is intended to commemorate the June 28, 1969 Stonewall riots that served as one of the most prominent historical events leading to the gay liberation movement. App Store visitors will find books, apps, movies, TV shows and podcasts that represent the LGBT community.
Some of the more prominent selections include movies like "Milk," a biography of Harvey Milk's struggles as a gay activist who became California's first openly gay elected official, and "Philadelphia," about a gay lawyer with AIDS who gets fired, and finds help suing his former company. TV shows like "Orange is the New Black" and "Modern Family," and books like "The Right Side of History" and "Raising My Rainbow" also appear in the section.
Apple has been outspoken about LGBT issues of late. The company's CEO Tim Cook, who recently announced he was gay, has spoken out often against anti-LGBT legislation, and his name was featured on Alabama's anti-discrimination bill. The company also participated in Pride 2014 in San Francisco, posting a video to YouTube of the many Apple employees who marched in the parade.
