You Can Pre-Order the Gear VR for Galaxy S6 on April 24
If you're itching to get some virtual reality gaming in on your new Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge, you won't have to wait much longer. The company announced that its new Gear VR headset, the Gear VR Innovator Edition, will be available for pre-order on April 24 online at Best Buy. Soon after, it will be ready to purchase online from Best Buy and Samsung on May 8 and in stores on May 15.
We got a glimpse of the new headset design back at Mobile World Congress in March, which is 15 percent smaller than the original. The new octa-core, 64-bit processor in the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge gives the headset a power boost that provides better graphics and more efficient use of battery. You can also now make use of the USB port to give the machine extra power if necessary.

The only other design improvement on the Innovator Edition is in the straps, which are slightly redesigned for a more comfortable fit. That's particularly important in a device you'll be wearing on your face for long periods of time; in our hands-on we found that it only enhanced the headset's already immersive experience.
While the updates don't dramatically change the headset, they are small improvements that make a big difference. We don't know the exact pricing of the Innovator Edition yet, but it will likely be around the $200 price of the original Gear VR.
