Fujitsu launches pair of business-friendly Windows 8.1 tablets

Fujitsu has been relatively quiet in the U.S. market since releasing a flurry of mobile systems late last year, but the company has just unveiled a pair of new Windows 8.1 tablets that continue its emphasis on the enterprise space.

The Stylistic Q555 is a 2-in-1 hybrid that continues the trend of combining tablet and laptop features in a single device. It features a 10.1-inch touchscreen with 1,920x1,080 (full 1080p HD) resolution, Intel Atom Z3795 Atom processor, 4GB of RAM, and either 64GB or 128GB of solid-state storage. You'll be able to get the Q555 running either Windows 8.1 Pro or Windows 8.1 with Bing, which includes a one-year subscription .

The convertible device comes with a detachable keyboard to convert it into a small notebook, and you can purchase an optional dock with additional ports for when you are using the Q555 on your desk. Other options include a digitizer, fingerprint sensor, and Smart Card reader. An embedded trusted platform module (TPM) and hard drive and BIOS password protection provide additional security.The company refers to the Q555 as "semi-rugged," thanks to its being tested under MIL-STD-810G standards for shock and vibration resistance and the ability to operate under harsh weather conditions.

For those seeking greater portability (and presumably lower costs), Fujitsu has also introduced the Stylistic Q335, the latest Windows tablet to come in the 8-inch form factor. Its specs are in line with the multitude of similar slates, from its screen resolution (1,280x800) to its processor (Atom Z3735F quad-core CPU) to its other specs (2GB of RAM, 64GB of built-in storage). As with the Q555, it offers the option of Windows 8.1 with Bing or Windows 8.1 Pro, and its built-in TPM provides more enterprise-quality security than the typical Windows tablet.

Fujitsu has not announced pricing details for either new tablet, other than to say that cost will vary depending on the configuration. It does advertise on its site that the Q335 will be available next month, but no similar information has been given for the Q555.
