Five Nights at Freddy's review

Five Nights at Freddy's proves to be as enjoyably scary as the original computer version. The clever way in which it uses the setting and graphics to create a dark, scary atmosphere makes it a title worthy to be on the device of even the most picky gamer.

Pros

Unique concept and gameplay: You play nightshifts as a new security guard at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, monitoring the place from your shadowy desk, switching between cameras, listening to recorded messages and, if you value your life, shutting the doors to your room when Freddy and his two animatronic robot friends come looking for trouble. The catch is that your energy generator depletes as you use the cameras, turn on lights, or close the doors, so unless you plan your moves carefully, you'll end up in the dark.

Quite scary: Forget about gruesome zombies: this game scares you with its subtle design and unpredictable plot, using light flashes and menacing images when you expect them least. The game becomes more and more unpredictable after the first night.

Great graphics: The game's graphics and scary sounds add a lot to the dark atmosphere and sense of foreboding.

Cons

Game-breaking purchase: By opting to purchase the unlimited energy perk, you'll break the core gameplay by becoming invincible.

Bottom Line

Five Nights at Freddy's demonstrates that story-driven games have a place in the fast-paced world of mobile gaming. It terms of design, execution, and graphics, it's a wonderful title, a game that has been crafted with care and passion.
