We finally know how long the Apple Watch’s battery will last on a charge
Apple will finally fill in all of the blanks surrounding the Apple Watch during its big press conference on Monday. The company’s first entry into the wearables and fashion markets is expected to make some serious waves on both fronts, and the device will be like nothing Apple has ever sold before. Apple will be the first technology company to truly treat a smartwatch as a fashion accessory, and we’re expecting the device’s price tag to reflect that.
Of course, there’s an even bigger question mark than the gold Apple Watch’s price tag: How long will the device’s battery last on a charge?

9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman has a solid track record when it comes to details on unreleased Apple devices, and he just weighed in on the pressing question of how long the Apple Watch will last per charge.
The Apple Watch’s battery life has concerned many prospective customers, as Apple said only that the Watch will need to be charged nightly. Earlier this year, we reported that Apple’s development targets for Apple Watch battery life were 2.5-4 hours for heavy app usage, versus 19 hours per day of combined usage between light app access, notifications, and Glances. Sources who have handled the Apple Watch tell us that Apple has improved the device’s battery life, noting that the final Apple Watch should be able to handle 5 hours of fairly heavy application usage, it and won’t run out of battery during a typical day of mixed active and passive use. However, the source says that the device will still need to be charged nightly, as it will definitely not last through a second full day.
In other words, it’s exactly what we expected. With typical use, the Apple Watch’s battery will last for a full day on a charge and will then need to be recharged overnight. Most people don’t use their watches while they sleep, so this shouldn’t be too much of an issue for most users.
