Bad news, Android fans: The Android 5.0 Lollipop Nexus update is delayed

The first smartphone to get Lollipop isn’t even a Nexus

Many Android fans rocking a Nexus device are waiting for Google to finally roll out their respective Android 5.0 Lollipop update, but the company isn’t ready to do it just yet, Android Police’s Artem Russakovskii said on Google+, as Google is still dealing with some bugs.

FROM EARLIER: Android 5.0 Lollipop is here… but you can’t have it just yet

Russakovskii shared a notice on Google+ that revealed the Nexus 9 and Nexus Player Lollipop builds have already been shared, revealing in a later comment that Lollipop updates for the Nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10 have been postponed to November 12th.

“Hey guys, I just got word from one of our tipsters that the first OTAs [over-the-air updates] got delayed due to some outstanding bugs, now currently scheduled for the 12th,” he said.

Google has already posted Android 5.0 to AOSP, suggesting that Nexus devices will soon be upgraded to Lollipop. But the company never said when the updates will start.

Interestingly though, Google did say on Twitter that Lollipop will be rolling out to supported devices “in the coming weeks,” when users asked when their Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 units will be updated to Android 5.0.

“Hi there, the Nexus 5 will be receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update via over-the-air and should be in the coming weeks,” Google tweeted to various Nexus 5 users, with a similar message posted as a reply to Nexus 4 owners asking about the update.

@3duardoTheGr3at The Android 5.0 Lollipop update is delivered over-the-air to your devices automatically & should arrive in the coming weeks,” Google also said to one person asking about the Lollipop update for Nexus devices.
