Apple Invites Media to iPhone Event On September 9
Apple is set to unveil the next generation of iPhones — and possibly a few other devices as well — at a media event in San Francisco next month. The company sent out an invite for a September 9 event to journalists Thursday, which read: “Hey Siri, give us a hint.”
It’s typical for Apple not to reveal what it will be presenting at its events, but the company routinely unveils the latest generation of iPhones at media events in September. The iPhone 6s will largely look the same as the existing iPhone 6, but sport a 12 megapixel camera and have the ability top record 4K video, if a number of leaks are to be believed.
Apple may also use the event to introduce the next version of its Apple TV set-top box, which has been due for an update for some time. The next-generation Apple TV will reportedly feature beefier hardware, a revamped remote control and a full-blown app store with access to apps from third-party publishers.
Apple has also been working on its own internet-based pay TV service, but has reportedly delayed the launch of the service until next year because of licensing issues.
