The realm of 3D printing delivers us many delightful objects, such as bridges, lightsaber crossguards and teddy bears. It's also capable of bringing darker concepts to life. It doesn't get much more frightening than a 3D-printed Joker mask that would bring bad dreams to Batman himself.
The mask is the work of Stefanos Anagnostopoulos, who finds the inspiration for his 3D art in movies and video games.
The Joker has been through many incarnations and different looks over the years. The appearance of the 3D-printed mask is borrowed from the DC Comics Batman series called "Death of the Family," which came out in 2012. It includes a scene of the Joker peeling off his own skin.

The files used to create the mask are available to download from MyMiniFactory. The costume piece is designed to print out in six pieces. These can be glued together and painted to get the final, creepy effect. And you're not out of luck if you don't have access to a 3D printer. The pieces can be ordered for $149 (about £95, AU$190 -- it ships internationally). You'll need to assemble and decorate it yourself.
The mask is pretty much guaranteed to give anyone who sees it a serious case of the heebie-jeebies. The Joker's portrayal in both films and comics has gotten progressively darker over the years. This printed face covering is right in line with that trend. You might want to lock it away before you go to sleep at night.
