3 shopping tips from Google will help you make it through Black Friday in one piece

If you’ve ever ventured out into the world on Black Friday, you likely already know the drill: get what you need from whichever stores are on your list and get out before you get trampled. It’s a genuinely terrifying tradition, but thankfully, Google has pulled from its vast network of data to offer some helpful tips.

The first thing that Google suggests is that you should avoid going out on Friday in the afternoon. If you just have to get out of your house to find the deals you’re looking for, go first thing in the morning or later in the evening, because foot traffic in most retailers is heavier between the hours of 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Next, Google recommends avoid consumer electronics and cell phone stores, as those stores are swamped more so than any other kind of store on Black Friday. Google says that may retailers actually see their busiest days on the weekend before Christmas, so you might be able to get the non-electronics gifts you need without fighting massive crowds.

Finally, Google reminds us that we should check in-store availability for an item before rushing out to the store. Sitting in traffic for 45 minutes only to find that the last Samsung 60″ TV sold out an hour and a half ago doesn’t sound like a great way to spend Black Friday.

In addition to these tips, Google released an infographic, which you can see below.
