2016 Subaru BRZ Sports Car Gets Lower Price, More Equipment
Sometimes prices really do go down—even on sports cars.
Subaru has cut prices by $300 across its BRZ model line for 2016. And versus the 2015 BRZ, Subaru has also added standard equipment.
The base-model 2016 Subaru BRZ Premium is now priced at $26,190, including the typical $795 destination and delivery fee.

Whether this price change was brought on by currency adjustments or market pressure—or a combination of those factors—isn’t clear. But it nudges it closer to the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata, a model that’s been fully redesigned this year and starts $455 below the Subaru.
The 2016 Subaru BRZ does include more features, at the base level, than the MX-5. All versions of the 2016 Subaru BRZ—slated to arrive at dealerships this fall—get the Starlink 6.2-inch infotainment system, which includes some tablet-like controls, as well as HD Radio, SiriusXM satellite radio compatibility, Bluetooth calling and audio streaming, iTunes Tagging, a USB port, and an auxiliary input jack.
That system also offers smartphone-app integration for streaming audio via Pandora, Aha, Stitcher, and others. And it includes an integrated rearview camera, and there’s even a single-disc CD player for those who still use that now-ancient format.

The previous infotainment system, in the 2015 BRZ, included a rudimentary navigation system, and while that isn't included in the new system it's clearly a step up in value.
Performance-wise, all of these BRZ models are powered by a 200-horsepower, 2.0-liter horizontally opposed (‘flat’) four-cylinder engine, with rear-wheel drive and a Torsen limited-slip differential. The BRZ is one of a rare breed—a focused sports car that
BRZ Limited models don’t do anything to detract from the driving experience, but they do include more equipment. Alcantara trim, additional lighting, and keyless access are among the upgrades inside, while on the outside the Limited adds a body-color trunk spoiler and fog lamps. Perhaps most importantly, there’s dual-zone automatic climate control in these models, and you can add heated seats and mirrors via an All-Weather Package.
