Registration open for electronics recycling event

Apr. 22—CHAMPAIGN — A Countywide Residential Electronics Collection event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon May 18 at Parkland College.

Residents of participating communities who wish to attend must register in advance at .

Online registration is now available and will remain open until all 15-minute time slots are reserved.

This free event is open to residents from the following communities: Bondville, Broadlands, Champaign, Fisher, Foosland, Gifford, Homer, Ivesdale, Longview, Ludlow, Mahomet, Ogden, Pesotum, Philo, Rantoul, Royal, Sadorus, Savoy, Sidney, St. Joseph, Thomasboro, Tolono, Urbana and unincorporated Champaign County.

The registration site includes lists of accepted and non-accepted items. There is a limit of four TVs per household and a total limit of seven items per household.

Registered attendees should use the college's Duncan Road entrance and follow the red signs. The event will be held "rain or shine," though organizers said severe weather will increase wait times.

The event is co-sponsored by Champaign, Urbana, Champaign County, Champaign County Court and Probation Services and Savoy.
