PSA: Tomorrow is the last day you can upgrade to Windows 10 for free

Some people have been complaining about Microsoft’s incessant prompts to upgrade to Windows 10 for almost a year. But come July 29th, many of those same people will complain about missing out on the opportunity to install Microsoft’s best operating system to date free of charge.

Microsoft announced last year that Windows 10 would be available as a free upgrade to eligible devices for one full year. After that, users who want to move from Windows 7 or Windows 8 to Windows 10 would have to purchase a license. Now, that day is almost upon us. On Friday July 29th, the first and only year of free Windows 10 upgrades will expire.

You should have plenty of time to upgrade your PC to Windows 10 by Friday if you’ve been delaying it so far. Getting the free version also guarantees that you’ll be able to download the Anniversary Update for free in just a few days, on August 2nd. If you need Windows 10 upgrade instructions, check out Microsoft’s help page at this link. If you want to have fun while upgrading, we've also got you covered.

If you fail to act now, you’ll have to pay $119 or more for your Windows 10 upgrade at any point after July 29th.

Obviously, if you’re among the many people who consistently complained about Microsoft’s intrusive ways of pushing the Windows 10 upgrade, you’ll probably want to stay away for one more day. The good news is that Microsoft will probably not try to force the update on your machine after July 29th.
