Please, Microsoft, bring ‘Halo 5’ to PC

Exciting news, PC gamers: 343 Industries is bringing the Forge editing tool from Halo 5: Guardians to Windows 10. This is big news not just because Forge is a great tool -- it's what it hints at for Halo 5 and PCs.

If you're unfamiliar with the Forge, it's a tool that allows players to create new maps and unique game types for Halo, originally introduced in Halo 3. It came to Halo 5 in the form of an update late last year, and now the developer is porting it to PC as a standalone experience, completely free to download.

Forge – Halo 5: Guardians Edition for Windows 10 will feature the following:

  • Keyboard & Mouse Support – For the first time ever, Forgers will have the option of using a keyboard & mouse allowing for more precision and control than ever before.

  • Increased Resolution – Support for multiple resolutions including 4k.

  • Test and Play with Friends – Enlist the help of Friends to help build, test, and play your Forge creations on Windows 10.

  • Build on Windows 10 and Publish to Xbox One – Experiences built on Windows 10 can be published to and played on Xbox One, opening the doors for countless new experiences to be enjoyed by players all over the world.

Yes, you'll be able to play Forge maps on Windows 10. In what capacity is still unclear, but it feels like we aren't too many steps away from seeing the entirety of Halo 5 made available on Windows 10. This tweet is especially curious:

No confirmation from Microsoft, but don't be shocked to see Halo 5 on PC by 2017. Regardless, Forge – Halo 5: Guardians Edition will be available for free later this year, with more details to be revealed in the coming months.
