PlayStation Employee Creates Custom PS4 Controller For Gamer With Cerebral Palsy

A kind-hearted Sony employee created a specially modified PlayStation controller in his own time and sent it to a gamer with cerebral palsy.

College student Peter Byrne had written to Sony to explain that he was having trouble using its latest DualShock 4 controller.

He explained that, due to his cerebral palsy, the PS4 game pad was frustrating to use as his left hand would brush against the controller and inadvertently pause the games he was playing.

A Sony employee eventually replied to say that he would address the matter personally - which he did, on his own time.

Alex Nawabi, a member of Sony PlayStation’s retail marketing operations team, initially told the gamer that he had been unable to find a solution but would send out a box of PlayStation goodies to make up for it.

When the package arrived, Peter found that the PlayStation employee had surprised him with a modified controller that he would be able to use without any issues.

The considerate Sony worker included a letter explaining that the touchpad in the centre of the controller had been disabled and that he had added a new button to the bottom of the controller to pause games.

The letter from the good samaritan said: “The email you sent definitely struck a chord within”.

“It killed me to hear how something you used to enjoy thoroughly was being ruined because of our new controller design. Although I can’t help everyone with this problem, at least I could help you. I wish I had more to give you”.

The thrilled gamer posted an account of the heart-warming episode on Facebook.
