SINGAPORE — The Xiaomi Mi Mix is giving the Chinese phone maker its moment in the sun right now.

The edge-to-edge, nearly all-screen phone has a bold design, and looks like none of the phones seen in the market right now.

We managed to get our hands on the coveted device, which is currently only being sold in China. Over the weekend, enthusiastic fans wiped out stock in just 10 seconds after it appeared online.

We showed it to people, and most seemed to comment on how large it was. The phone is pretty similar in size to the iPhone 7 Plus, but its huge screen makes it seem a lot bigger.

And when they found out its body is made of ceramic, a lot of people wondered if it would shatter if they dropped the phone.

Ceramic was chosen for the Mi Mix's mirror-like back because of the material's extreme hardness. This makes it a lot more scratch-proof than conventional phone bodies made from plastics or metal alloys.

It may continue to be difficult getting the phone. Xiaomi has said it will only make 10,000 Mi Mix phones a month, and it hasn't announced overseas sales yet.
