‘Park, Pay, Walk Away’: New gateless parking system coming to Center in the Square Garage

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The City of Roanoke has announced an upgrade to the Center in the Square parking garage.

Starting on Monday, May, 13, crews will begin transforming the downtown Roanoke garage into a modern gateless parking operation. The city says this new feature aims to improve customer experience and operation performance.

“We are excited about the shift towards a more efficient and user-friendly parking solution,” said Brian Mann, Executive Enterprise Administrator, City of Roanoke. “This project not only represents an improvement in technology but also our ongoing commitment to providing top-tier services to our customers.”

The garage sits in the heart of Star City on Campbell Avenue SE. Currently, rates are $1 for every 30 minutes and the daily max rate is $8.

During the initial phase of the installation, visitors will continue to use existing parking equipment.

The city says PARK Roanoke is committed to ensuring a seamless transition and minimal disruption to daily operations.
