Official Apple documentation reveals one fix for the iPhone 7’s headphone problem
In case you didn’t know, Apple is going to kill the standard audio jack on the iPhone 7 – go grab your pitchfork. But how will it replace the 3.5mm headset port? How will it fix the problem it’s creating? After all, most of us already have at least one pair of regular wired headphones that will no longer work on a device that doesn’t have the audio jack, right?

Many people think that Apple will either include wireless headphones in the iPhone 7 box (or AirPods), or include Lightning EarPods. Others believe that the company will bundle a 3.5mm-to-Lightning adapter with the iPhone 7 so that you can keep using your current headphones with the new iPhone.
Apple obviously is not commenting on the matter just yet, but its actions speak louder than words — especially if we’re talking about filing official documentation with regulatory bodies.
Such Apple documents filed with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) on Monday, listing several unannounced products, including a couple of iPhone models, no less than 10 Apple Watch models, and a pair of never-before-seen "AirPods" wireless headphones. The EEC is the regulatory body that governs trademarks and patents, among other things, for Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
Discovered by Mobiltelefon.ru on Tuesday, the filings seem to indicate that Apple is indeed planning to launch wireless headphones in the future. It’s not clear whether they’ll be bundled with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, or whether they’ll be sold separately in Apple stores. The second possibility seems infinitely more likely, of course.
The filing also contains three wireless headphone models that will be sold under the Beats brand. The Apple A1778 and A1784 are two upcoming iPhones that will run iOS 10. These are the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, though it’s not clear which is which.
What’s puzzling about the listing is that it offers 10 distinct product names for upcoming Apple Watch models. Recent reports said that Apple will launch an Apple Watch 2 this fall, without specifying how many different models each watch family will have.
Apple’s fall event is scheduled for September 7th, at which point we should find out more details about the fate of our headphones.
